    Streetkids control traffic in Harare

Street kids control traffic in Harare as traffic lights are not working.

Most traffic lights in Harare CBD are not working and it's leading to unnecessary congestion as drivers can not give each other chances.

In some areas the police controls traffic but in some there will be no police. Streetkids and street vendors take the responsibility to control traffic and some earn from charitable drivers.

In an interview with this publication,  a 12 year old boy who was controlling traffic at Corner Josiah Tongogara and Prince Edward, he said that he enjoyed controlling traffic and receiving tips from generous and appreciative drivers. The young man whose name is withheld for security reasons said that he is living in the streets while saving for retaking his Ordinary Level exam.

Zimbabwean citizens have given up hope for fully functioning traffic lights amid the economic hardships.
