Rusape Man Found in Possession of Illegal Firearms
Found in possession of unlawful firearms.
Stephen Apali aged 55 and Bobby Afali aged 18 of Silverbow farm, Rusape stand before Karoi Magistrates court facing charges breaking the firearms act.
On the 6th of December 2023 at 2000hours , police detectives received information to the effect that the two accused persons were in possession of firearms.
Following the information, the accused the persons were found at Chikangwe bus terminus.
A search was conducted and telescopic Ruger 78/22 riffle, a magazine with 5 rounds and an Optima shotgun with 5 rounds were found under the back seat of their vehicle.
The accused persons failed to produce a permit that allows them to have weapons and after investigations it was revealed that they have steal this weapons from their rightful owner.
They were sentenced to 8 months imprisonment , 4 months suspended for 5 years , they will save 4 months in prison.
