President Mnangagwa Mourns the Passing of Namibia's Founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has expressed his deepest condolences to Namibia following the passing of its founding President, Dr. Sam Nujoma. Mnangagwa described Nujoma as a "towering figure of liberation and a champion of African independence" whose legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
Nujoma played a crucial role in Namibia's struggle for independence and is remembered as a significant leader in the fight for freedom across the continent. He was a key figure in the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) and served as Namibia's first president from 1990 to 2005.
Mnangagwa's message was echoed by other African leaders, including South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, who praised Nujoma as an "extraordinary freedom fighter". The Namibian government has announced national mourning and burial arrangements will be made in consultation with Nujoma's family.
