President Mnangagwa Hosts Chevrons at State House
Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa hosted the national cricket team, the Chevrons, at State House to congratulate them on their historic performance at the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.
The team made it to the Super 8 stage unbeaten, beating Australia, Oman, and co-hosts Sri Lanka, showcasing Zimbabwe's cricket prowess.
Mnangagwa praised the team's resilience and excellence, saying they've set a shining example for Zimbabwe's youth.
He urged them to continue representing the country with distinction globally.
The team's captain, Sikandar Raza, and coach, Dave Houghton, were commended for their leadership .
The Chevrons' achievement is seen as a result of sustained institutional support and national commitment to sports development.
Parliament paid tribute to the team, acknowledging their contribution to national pride.
The team's historic run earned them a significant prize, with Zimbabwe taking home US$491,538, a sevenfold increase from their 2022 earnings .
