21-year-old killed in hit-and-run on Harare–Mutare Road
A 21-year-old man died on May 18, 2026, after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run along the Harare–Mutare Road.
Police said the incident happened at the 148 km peg when Walter Masuku, who was on attachment in Rusape, tried to cross the road. An unidentified driver hit him and fled the scene. Masuku sustained severe head injuries and died immediately.
Masuku was originally from Raffingora. His family said they are devastated by the loss and believe there may be suspicious circumstances around the incident.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the case is being treated as a hit-and-run.
Investigators have called on anyone with information to contact the nearest police station.
