Man Sentenced To Prison for Bestiality
A 19-year-old man from Mutare, Carrington Mutasa, has been convicted of bestiality for sexually assaulting a hen.
Mutasa was sentenced to eight months in prison, with three months suspended for five years.
The remaining five months were commuted to 175 hours of community service.
The offense occurred on September 16, 2025, at around 5:30 pm in Piki Village.
Mutasa unlawfully entered a homestead and accessed the fowl run, where he committed the act.
A minor witnessed him and raised the alarm, leading to his arrest.
The Mutare Magistrates Court handed down the sentence, considering Mutasa's age, lack of prior convictions, and apparent remorse.
Mutasa will complete 175 hours of community service under local council supervision.
The sentence has sparked mixed reactions, with some welcoming the rehabilitative approach and others questioning its severity .
