Couple Robbed and Assaulted in Bulawayo Bush Attack
A couple's romantic drive turned into a nightmare on Sunday when they were ambushed by armed robbers along Intemba Road between Pumula South and Pumula East in Bulawayo. The attackers, who were armed with guns, forced the couple to stop their silver Honda and robbed them of two Samsung Galaxy phones, a small Nokia, and $280 in cash.
During the attack, the 24-year-old woman was ordered to tie up her 33-year-old partner using a USB cable.
The robbers then dumped the man on the back seat and drove the vehicle deep into the bush.
One of the robbers fired a shot that shattered the driver's window, and the bullet ricocheted, hitting the woman on her left foot, leaving her bruised and swollen.
In a shocking twist, one of the attackers attempted to rape the injured woman but was overpowered, forcing them to flee the scene.
The woman was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele confirmed the incident and urged anyone with information to come forward.
The police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
