Rusape woman jailed 26 years for murdering sister in law.
Rusape, Zimbabwe, Kundai Thandazile, 26, was sentenced to 26 years in prison yesterday for the murder of her sister-in-law, Dorothy Matongo. The incident occurred on May 8, 2024, in Vengere suburbs, Rusape.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, Thandazile confronted Matongo at home, accusing her of assault after they had an argument after misuse of electricity.
The confrontation turned violent when Thandazile grabbed Matongo by the neck, took a knife from her back pocket, and stabbed her once in the left side of the chest.
Matongo staggered out of the house, crying in agony, and fell to the ground, it is said that she was bleeding profusely and was rushed to Rusape General Hospital.
She was later referred to Victoria Chitepo Hospital in Mutare, where she died on the way.
The Rusape Magistrates Court handed down the sentence, bringing closure to the case.
