THE NUMBER OF WOMEN CAUGHT TRAFFICKING DRUGS IS INCREASING.
A woman from Kadoma was recently jailed for possessing over 6 kilograms of dagga in Beitbridge.
The Beitbridge Magistrate Court sentenced 33-year-old Siphelile Kufa to 30 months in prison after finding her guilty of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.
Kufa was arrested on March 3, 2025, after detectives searched her at the Masvingo turnoff in Beitbridge, acting on a tip-off.
She was found in possession of 6.26 kilograms of dagga hidden in her bag.
The drugs, valued at US$626, were weighed in her presence before she was taken into custody.
In a separate incident on February 24, 2025, a woman from Mutare was caught with 13 kilograms of dagga. Pamela Mavhunduke, 41, of Dangamvura, was found with 13.39 kilograms of dagga at the Dalivhadzimu bus terminus.
The dagga, worth US$1,390, was weighed in her presence at Zimpost before she was taken into custody.
The National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe is warning people to stop drug trafficking.
Cases of women being caught with dagga in Beitbridge are increasing, with many attempting to transport it to South Africa.
