School Stabbing Shocks South Korea: Teacher Arrested for Fatally Stabbing 8-Year-Old Student
A devastating incident has shaken South Korea, as a teacher at an elementary school in Daejeon has been arrested for fatally stabbing an 8-year-old student. The teacher, a woman in her 40s, confessed to the crime and is currently undergoing surgery for self-inflicted stab wounds.
The student was found with severe stab wounds on the second floor of the school building and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The teacher had requested a leave of absence in December citing depression but returned to school just 20 days later after being deemed fit to work.
Investigations revealed that the teacher had displayed violent behavior in the days leading up to the incident, including physically assaulting a colleague. Despite this, she was allowed to return to school, where she was kept under close supervision.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and concern, with Acting President Choi Sang-mok ordering an investigation and calling for measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The school has been closed, and locals have gathered to pay their respects to the victim.
