HARARE-MUTARE COLLISION: Three Dead, Five Injured
Three people died, and five others were severely injured in a head-on collision on the Harare-Mutare road. According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), a Toyota Aqua with three passengers collided with a Toyota Hilux carrying four passengers.
The accident occurred at the 118-kilometer peg along the Harare-Mutare road in Marondera around 9 pm on Saturday. The ZRP reported that the bodies of the victims were taken to Marondera Provincial Hospital for post-mortem and mortuary, while the injured were also admitted to the same hospital.
In a separate incident, a 6-year-old girl, Matimba, from Gushure village, who was a grade 1 student at Gunda Primary School, was hit by a vehicle (Crobox) and died on the spot. According to her grandmother, Mrs. Matimba, she was following her to the garden on the other side of the road but did not notice that the girl was behind her.
The driver, Webber Chinyadza, claimed he mistook the girl for a goat. The burial is scheduled to take place the following day, and the case is being handled by the Rusape Republic Police.
