Madzikanda Family Dispute Lands in Court Over Alleged WhatsApp Messages and Property Damage.

A case involving businessman Dr David Madzikanda has landed in the Harare Magistrates Court after a dispute between his wife and another woman escalated into allegations of cyberbullying and property damage.

Millicent Murape appeared before magistrate Lisa Mutendereki facing charges under the Cyber and Data Protection Act as well as malicious damage to property.

Court papers indicate that Murape was once a lodger at the Madzikanda family home before a relationship with Dr Madzikanda developed.

Prosecutors allege that on July 5 and July 6, 2025, Murape sent a series of insulting WhatsApp messages to Mutseriwa Madzikanda, the businessman’s wife.

The messages, according to the State, claimed that Murape was “taking over” Dr Madzikanda and would become the new owner of the property.

Mutseriwa also told the court that Murape accused her of witchcraft, alleging that she had placed charms at the doorstep in an attempt to cause a miscarriage.

The complainant further alleged that her windows were damaged during the dispute.

Giving evidence, Mutseriwa said she sought a protection order after receiving the messages and later discovered her husband at Murape’s apartment during the day. She told the court that her decision to report the matter to police was motivated by harassment rather than jealousy, noting that Dr Madzikanda has other partners.

In her defence, Murape denied all the allegations. She told the magistrate that both she and Mutseriwa are involved with Dr Madzikanda, and accused Mutseriwa of stalking her and attempting to damage her reputation.

Murape also denied sending abusive messages or breaking any windows at the Madzikanda residence.

The magistrate postponed the matter to next week, when Dr Madzikanda is expected to appear in court and give evidence.

The case continues before the Harare Magistrates Court.
