Tagwirei Family Wedding Gifts Valued at Over US$20M

Businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei and his wife Sandra gifted their son and daughter-in-law cash and land worth US$17.5 million during a wedding ceremony on 24 May 2026.

The couple, Taonanyasha John Tagwirei and Poneso Tinomuda Janda, received US$2.5 million in cash and 33 hectares in Umwinsidale reportedly valued at US$15 million, according to reports of the event.

Other guests also presented substantial gifts. Businessman Wicknell Chivayo gave US$250,000 and a luxury designer handbag. 

Gold dealer Scott Sakupwanya contributed US$500,000. Businessmen Sternly Kondongwe and Koala each gave US$100,000, while AgriFora’s Manungo gave US$300,000. Mining company Makomo Resources donated US$50,000.

Youth Minister Tino Machakaire gifted a Defender Octa valued at about US$470,000, one of 30 reported worldwide. Businessman Wesley Chingwena added a 140-horsepower tractor. Senior government official George Guvamatanga and his wife donated 25 pregnant pedigree Beefmaster heifers and US$250,000. 

Gospel musician Everton Mlalazi gave US$150,000. Other gifts included US$275,000 from Obey Chimuka and his wife, and US$100,000 from G6.

The high-profile ceremony drew businesspeople, senior government officials, and other prominent figures. 

Reports described the event as one of the most talked-about social events in Zimbabwe this year.
