Wicknell Chivhayo donated 10 brand new ambulances worthy 90,000 usd each.
Zimbabwean businessman Sir Wicknell Chivhayo has made a significant donation to government hospitals in provincial capitals across the country, gifting 10 brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser ICU ambulances, each valued at $90,000 yesterday.
The ambulances are fully equipped with advanced life-saving technology and are part of a larger $4 million donation package aimed at honoring President Emmerson Mnangagwa's 83rd birthday.
The donation also includes 10 brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 vehicles, valued at $190,000 each, to support provincial leaders in executing development projects.
Additionally, Chivhayo has provided $100,000 in cash to each Provincial Chairperson for local development initiatives.
The donation has been met with mixed reactions. Government officials and hospital administrators have welcomed the gesture, describing it as a "game-changer" for Zimbabwe's healthcare system.
However, some Zimbabweans have expressed skepticism about Chivhayo's philanthropic claims, questioning the source of his wealth.
Chivhayo's donation is part of a larger pattern of philanthropy, where he gifts luxury cars and cash to various individuals and organizations.
His generosity has sparked debate, with some viewing it as a genuine attempt to make a positive impact, while others see it as a calculated move to gain favor and attention.
The ambulances are expected to significantly enhance emergency medical services in Zimbabwe, particularly in rural and under-resourced areas.
The vehicles and development funds will also support provincial leaders in executing development projects and implementing local initiatives.
