Masvingo Police Crack Down on Drug Trafficking, Arrest Seven Suspects


 Masvingo Police have arrested seven suspects in two separate incidents involving unlawful possession of dangerous drugs yesterday. 

According to reports, the arrests were made as part of the police's ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and trafficking in Masvingo Province.

In the first incident, six suspects were arrested at Mupandawana Growth Point, Gutu. 

The suspects are Courage Mahachi, 32, Christopher Takunda Magumise, 25, Cogence Chimombe, 27, Motion Rutsvara, 38, Maxwell Mukaro, 53, and Theni James, 39. 

They were found in possession of various controlled substances, including Broncleer Cough Syrup, Stilpane Cough Syrup, Benylin Cough Syrup, Astra Pain Cough Syrup, and dagga.

In a separate incident, Delight Sithole, 25, was arrested at the 255-kilometer peg along Ngundu-Tanganda Road, Middle Sabi, with 7 kilograms of dagga.

The suspects are expected to face charges related to unlawful possession of dangerous drugs. 

The police inspector commissioner Paul Nyathi said they are committed to continuing their efforts to curb drug abuse and trafficking in the province.
