Bogus Police Officers Target Harare Motorists
Harare, Zimbabwe Motorists in Harare are being targeted by individuals posing as police officers, who are using fake identification and uniforms to extort money and valuables. These impostors are causing concern among citizens, who are already frustrated with the challenges of navigating the city's roads.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed ongoing investigations into these incidents. National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that the suspects are using a black Toyota Wish vehicle and are impersonating members of the ZRP, the Zimbabwe National Army, and the President’s Office.
Motorists approached by this gang are advised to drive immediately to the nearest police station or contact the police National Complaints Desk at (024) 2703631 or Harare Operations at (024) 2748836.
The ZRP urges all citizens to remain vigilant and report any incidents of impersonation. By working together, motorists and law enforcement can help prevent these scams and ensure safer roads for everyone.
