Farmers Urged to Utilize Dry Spell for Farming Operations

The Meteorological Services Department has advised farmers to take advantage of the current dry spell to carry out weeding and other farming operations. Despite the predicted dry spell in the next seven days, farmers can utilize this period to prepare for the upcoming rainy season, which is expected to bring normal to above-normal rains from December to February next year.

Meteorologist Baba Maketa emphasized that the season is still favorable, and farmers should be prepared for potential hailstorms and heavy winds when the rains resume.

Chief agronomist Ivan Craig noted that the dry spell is an ideal opportunity for farmers to apply fertilizers, chemicals, and carry out other essential tasks.

In other news, the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (ZimParks) has partnered with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to provide bicycles to children living near Hwange National Park. This initiative aims to reduce the risks of human-wildlife conflict by enabling safer and faster travel routes to school.
