Harare Man Jailed for Striking Wife with a Hoe
A 50-year-old man from Eastview, Harare, has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for attempted murder after striking his wife with a hoe.
The incident occurred on December 24, 2024, at their residence in Eastview, Harare.
According to the National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe, the offender arrived at his residence after visiting his second wife.
He began weeding the yard, and when his wife offered to assist, he ordered her to leave.
The complainant complied and moved to the other side of the yard.
However, an altercation later ensued, and the offender struck her once on the nose with a hoe, inflicting a deep cut.
The Harare Magistrates Court sentenced the offender to 36 months imprisonment, with 10 months suspended for 5 years.
The sentence was handed down last Friday.
