Teenager Sentenced to 20 Years for Raping 8-Year-Old
Rusape Regional Magistrates Court has convicted an 18-year-old and sentenced him to 20 years in prison for raping an 8-year-old child last week Friday.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the child was raped on December 26, 2024, in a village near Rusape town.
The child was asleep at home when the accused entered her room and sexually assaulted her.
The accused entered the room naked, and the child was awoken by the assault.
At the time of the incident, the child's parents were away attending a church service.
After the assault, the child confided in her brother, who informed their mother.
They subsequently reported the incident to the police, leading to the accused's arrest.
