Luckmore Mazambani, a 38-year-old man from Chikondora village, has been sentenced to a staggering 111 years in prison by the Bindura Regional Magistrates court today .
Mazambani's crimes were truly horrifying, involving the terrorization of women in Mt Darwin and Madziwa areas of Mashonaland Central province.
Between January and December 2023, Mazambani waged a campaign of violence against women living alone.
Armed with machetes and axe handles, he would break into homes at night, brutally assaulting, raping, and robbing his victims.
He stole cash, cellphones, groceries, and other valuables, using violence to intimidate and harm his victims.
Mazambani was convicted of six counts of rape and three counts of robbery.
The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison for each rape conviction and 12 years for each robbery conviction, resulting in the cumulative sentence of 111 years.
