Woman jailed for assisting man to rape her own daughter.
A 43-year-old woman from Penhalonga has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Mutare Magistrates Court for facilitating and assisting in the rape of her 6-year-old daughter in 2022.
The perpetrator remained unknown, as the woman did not disclose his name.
The incident occurred one afternoon when the child returned from school.
The mother undressed the child while the man sat on the bed watching.
She instructed the child to lie on her back, and the unknown man raped the girl once. The mother sat in a chair and watched the entire incident.
In April 2024, the child was living with her grandmother, who noticed that the child suffered from urinary incontinence.
The child narrated that the problem began after she was raped and explained the entire incident, including her mother's role.
The grandmother reported the case to the police.
